go to Mandriva as its brand new version is set up perfect for eee-PC in mind.

when you are choosing the Desktop (Gnome KDE or LXDE) to use go for the LXDE as it is lighterweight than the others. It has no less functionality - they just have ten ways of doing each thing and prettier graphics.

decide on what distro you want and download it.

This is one option

The absolute /easiest/ way is to get hold of an external dvd/cd drive and get the eee to boot from it. You can then just install the OS.

If you dont have access to an external drive you can do it with a usb stick like this
